Cover reveal

Cover reveal

I’ve set the publication date for my novel, The Recluse Rules, for 27th October (just in time for Halloween, obviously). I hired a designer for the cover through Reedsy, a very useful marketplace site. I’ll blog in another post the value of human vs AI design, but for the reveal, I’ll just say I’m very glad I worked with an experienced designer. The chap I hired was Roderick Brydon, who really understood horror and book design.

The design he came up with is below. Within horror there are many sub-genres, including cosy, extreme, folk, literary, etc. There is a coding for these in cover art also, for example extreme/splatterpunk often have cartoonish grotesque painting. My book is in the psychological/literary horror genre so the cover hints at a slow-burn book. I love the theme of seven (there are 7 recluse rules), and the coding of objects that arise in the novel. If you’re so inclined, you can pre-order the book on Amazon. For now, behold the cover. What do you think?
